At Home with Cecilie Thorsmark & Jacob Kampp Berliner
We visited the CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week and her husband in their shared home. Here, minimalist Scandi design meets colourful interior highlights – creating a vibrant feel-good space for the whole family.
For the past two years, the family of five, along with their dog Bowie, has lived in a house in the heart of Copenhagen. The centre of family life is the open-plan kitchen-living area, where family life unfolds in a stylish setting.
The kitchen is his space: family man and entrepreneur Jacob Kampp Berliner is responsible for most of the meals prepared in the minimalist yet playful family kitchen.
Minimalism with a Twist
The kitchen is finished entirely in sleek stainless steel, while pops of colour, design pieces and holiday souvenirs bring character and warmth to the room.
When it comes to decor, the couple also leans towards classic stainless steel. Chrome becomes almost a neutral backdrop against which accents like the orange-rimmed FACILE crockery truly stand out.
Scandi Living
For Cecilie, this means a lifestyle where life – and a bit of chaos – can unfold freely. The play area in the kitchen-living space expands the room’s functionality and ensures that every family member feels at home.
Hygge Feeling
The round dining table – a design by Cecilie’s grandmother’s brother – is the perfect place for the family to come together and enjoy shared meals.
“It’s a blend that emerges when two lives become one and you start a family.”
“We’ve got the white walls and light flooring. For us, it’s like a blank canvas where unique pieces and art really come to life.”
The WOLKE sofa, in a beige bouclé fabric, makes a subtle statement without detracting from the colourful gallery wall. It also provides ample space for the whole family to relax.
“Our interior style reflects our love for special design pieces.”
The sofa isn’t just a cosy spot for relaxation – thanks to the large windows, it also offers a beautiful view of the garden.
Green Oasis
In the small garden, surrounded by ivy-covered walls, it's easy to unwind. And design plays a role here too: the GIGI outdoor table adds sculptural flair to the space.
Pure Relaxation
While most of the house has an open layout, the small work and relaxation room offers a welcoming retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Minimal Screentime
Whether books or vinyl records – there’s never a dull moment in the house, even without screens.
