Design: Mario Bellini 2009 What is a tray for if it doesn't excite those who see it, touch it, use it, remember it? What is a tray for if it only serves to carry things? The translucent polymer of these trays - sculpted from the inside - varies in colour and light intensity. And thus creates a magical, three-dimensional illusion on the surface where glasses and cups are placed. Images that float like a cloud of smoke. Like a stream, a river of lava, the flame of a fire. Images animated by the caprices of wind and light. Like the waves of the sea, the dunes of the desert, the shimmering reflections of silk. The firstborn, these trays in rainbow colours, of a family of small objects. Thoughtful and designed to give unexpected emotions.
