In 1690, the Grand Duke of Tuscany brought jasmine, a flower originally from Arabia, to India. Whether fresh or dried, it continues to play a central role in India's myths, legends and daily rituals. Sometimes Jasminum Sambac is used to perfume loose tea, another time it's braided into flower chains. Spiritually revered, this fragrant flower is offered as a sacrifice in Hindu temples.
